Guess Women

Guess is an American brand of clothing line that has been around since the 1980s with a question mark being used as the Guess logo. Four brothers, Georges, Paul, Armand and Maurice Marciano, started the company. They have designed and marketed many styles of Guess clothing and accessories through the years, but their first was a pair of Guess jeans they named, “Marilyn”. Although, the stores had doubts at first, they became an instant success.

Guess jeans for women came first, but shortly afterwards a line of Guess jeans for men were designed, and became just as popular. It was during this period that Guess Jeans Inc. was developed. Many famous and influential celebrities worked as Guess models and were in the Guess ads. Drew Barrymore, Anna Nicole Smith and Brooke Shields are just a few of their famous models. So popular and stylish was Guess, women everywhere wanted to wear their clothing. Paris Hilton was also a Guess model in one of the Guess ads displayed in the front of a Guess store. This particular ad caused controversy due to the nature of the ad: Paris was ‘seducing’ a man.

Guess was also involved in lawsuit over whether the Guess factory workers were getting paid minimum wage or overtime pay. For a while, their sales slowed down, but then sales from the Guess stores continued to skyrocket with additions of new Guess clothes being added to their already famous line of clothing. The introduction of Guess Kids clothes was met with as much enthusiasm as their adult clothing line. These can be found at many of the Guess outlet stores. Now, Guess has a huge line of Guess clothing and Guess accessories.
