Marc Jacobs Women

Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer who, while at the Parsons School of Design in New York, designed his first line on hand knit sweaters. His first collection he designed for Reuben Thomas Inc. under the Sketchbook label. He then became partners with Robert Duffy to form Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc., which still exists today. Marc designed his first collection under the Marc Jacobs label in 1986.

Jacobs received The Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent at the youngest age of any designer. Two years later, he along with Robert Duffy, joined Perry Ellis, with Marc heading the women’s fashion designs. In 1992, Designer Marc Jacobs won the Women’s Designer of the Year Award. Marc Jacobs is known for not following trends when designing and his intuition has usually paid off for him.

In 1995, Jacobs and Duffy launched their first line of men’s ready to wear clothing. They designed clothing that they wanted to have in their own wardrobe. Since 1997, Jacobs has created a Marc Jacobs ad campaign along with models, director, artists and musicians. This runs twice a year.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs collection was started in 2001 during the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fashion show. There are many special new items created by Marc by Marc Jacobs.
